Cut Meutia, the Brave Pearl of Aceh

They had to fight for thirty long years. Then in 1903 the king, Sultan Daud, stopped fighting the Dutch. But it did not stop the wars. The Aceh people still fought the Dutch. Many Dutch soldiers were killed. Aceh warriors with their 'rencong' and swords fought the Dutch in many different places. The Dutch had to fight these warriors for another thirty-nine years until 1942. Among those brave Aceh warriors was Teuku Ben Daud, an "uleebalang" or chief of Perak District, in Pasai, East Aceh. He fought in the forest. He had a daughter called Cut Nyak Meutia or Cut Meutia.
